Stan announces first feature film project: The Second

Online streaming service Stan this week announced its first feature-length project, The Second, to be funded by Screen Queensland.

Billed as a psychological thriller, The Second will be given a cinema release before streaming exclusively on Stan (jointly owned by Nine Entertainment Co and Fairfax media).

Mumbrella reports that the film will follow “two female friends whose lives entwine”.

Local Queensland talent Mairi Cameron will direct the film – which has been given a $1m production budget to be covered by Screen Queensland – with Stephen Lance as writer/producer.

The Second is the first feature length film commissioned by Stan following the success of its two original ventures, No Activity and Wolf Creek.

Filming begins later this year.
