BBC Three has recently announced that it will be picking up Stan’s original series Romper Stomper, to launch in the UK in early 2018.
The deal was made through UK based distributor DCD rights, as they acquired the Roadshow Diamond production made in association with Screen Australia and Film Victoria, in order to broadcast the show on BBC Three.
This announcement follows the previous sale to SundanceTV, which will see the the show broadcast through the BBC in multiple territories and countries via the SundanceTV Global channel including Eastern Europe, the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal and Latin America.
Coming off a record-breaking New Years Day launch in Australia, Romper Stomper adds yet another achievement to Stan’s current roster of award-winning fresh and diverse projects from various genres.
Stan’s Chief Content Officer Nick Forward commented on this achievement, saying “Romper Stomper was brought to the screen by world class team telling an Australian story while also addressing important contemporary and global themes. Stan customers have embraced the show in record numbers and we look forward to viewers in the UK experiencing it on the BBC.”
Romper Stomper resumes the story of the ground-breaking and controversial film starring Russell Crowe, following a new generation of the Activist Right opposing their Anti-Fascist counterparts, with three young Lebanese Muslims caught between all the conflict.
Romper Stomper is currently streaming (in Australia) exclusively on Stan.
