After the premiere of Eddie Alcazar‘s latest film Perfect at this year’s SXSW festival, we managed to sit down with the cast and crew, including cinematographer Matthias Koenigswieser, as well as cast members Garrett Wareing, Tao Okamoto, Chris Santos and fellow Australian Courtney Eaton, to discuss the film itself, its experience and message, the attraction to working with such an experimental director, and in Eaton’s case, working with renowned actress Abbie Cornish, who also hails from Australia.
It was the first time seeing the final product for the cast and crew themselves, but satisfaction on the end product seemed to be unanimous. “The director, he knows what he wants and he’s such a visionary, and he will go to the ends of the earth to fulfil that vision”, actor Garrett Wareing said of Alcazar.
Perfect will raise questions about the way the audience views themselves and the world, as well as “how we all curate our lives and how we want to be perceived…as opposed to really digging deep and celebrating who we really are,” said Matthias Koenigswieser.
