Sydney’s leading festival for cult and underground films, the Sydney Underground Film Festival (SUFF), will once again spread over 100 experimental, subversive, and controversial screenings over four days this September. These screenings include various Australian premieres, special retrospective screenings, and Q&A sessions alongside masterclasses and live music.
Provocative and notorious Writer-Director Gaspar Noe will be represented in the opening night as his latest sexed-up project LOVE will screen in 3D for it’s Australian premiere. Noe’s work headlines a huge line up of often disturbing, always interesting films including music documentary We Are Twisted F*cking Sister, the story of the greatest fan-made film ever made in Raiders!, the story behind infamous digital black market Silk Road in Deep Web, and a special 20th anniversary screening of Larry Clarke’s indie classic Kids, and Andrew W.K comedy-horror Dude Bro Party Massacre III (which also stars Greg Sestero, who played Mark in Tommy Wiseau disasterpiece The Room).
SUFF’s closing night film will be yet another entry from the twisted mind of Eli Roth with Knock Knock, a trashy sexploitation film starring none other than Keanu Reeves in one of his most physical roles to date.
“Over the past year, we have scoured the globe for the most subversive, off the wall and out there films we could possibly find”, said Stefan Popescu, SUFF’s Festival Director. It looks like, yet again, that has resulted in a line up that’s as challenging and engaging as it is downright frightening and disturbing.
