And here we have it, the long awaited International Trailer for Alien: Covenant has arrived, just one week after Fox released a short prologue introducing the crew of the Covenant. Unlike the last trailer, this one doesn’t pull any punches when it comes to unveiling the dangers the crew will face on their mission to colonise the new ‘paradise’ planet.
You can watch the trailer here:
When the crew land on the planet they are greeted by the sight of human vegetation but the most peculiar part is that there is no signs of life. Foreshadowing a deeper expansion to what has been happening on this planet before the Covenant arrives.
There appears to be more than just the danger of the xenomorphs on this planet with deadly spores and other alien life-forms. There is a cloak figure in the trailer, which, at present identity is unknown but a good guess would be it is a returning character from Prometheus.
The other thing that stood out was Daniels (Katherine Waterson) channeling her inner Ripley (See: Alien, Aliens) showing she is pure badass and strong leader that will with no doubt be pushed to her limits keeping the crew not only together but alive.
One main question still remains where is James Franco‘s character Captain Branson? Despite only appearing in the prologue clip, he has not appeared in any of the official trailers. There is a section of this trailer that hints that events probably won’t bode well for him.
It definitely appears Scott’s promise for the R rating (American equivalent for MA15+) is more than warranted and showcases that the future of the Alien franchise will be going back to its horror roots. Coming off the successes of Deadpool and now Logan, the studio has a great chance of scoring with this new installment.
