The Mighty Boosh team Julian Barratt and Noel Fielding are too ludicrous for HBO

When the minds behind the always-unpredictable BBC comedy, The Mighty Boosh, had been saying that they were planning on working together in the near future, fans of the long defunct, much missed TV series must have been feeling at least a little nostalgic.

Had the pair had it their way though, we would have seen the mismatched duo back on our screens a lot earlier.

In an interview with The Guardian, Julian Barratt spoke about the time he and Noel (Fielding) approached HBO with an idea for a new series,

“Me and Noel … pitched this really ludicrous idea about us driving around in a haunted car and they just stared at us. Literally stared at us! It was awful … Luckily, we were together so we could laugh about it,”

It seems that the crew at HBO couldn’t have taken much notice of the pairs earlier work, given their eccentric nature and unfiltered imagination; their seminal TV show offering more WTF moments than the entire Leprechaun film series.

Still, Barratt and Fielding have been showing signs on embarking on another Boosh-esque TV series, something we can thank Barratt’s children for, after their positive reaction to the series reminded Barratt of what he loved about the show.

“Well I knew it was good, but I sort of didn’t know why it was good, in a way. So I was talking to Noel about that. I’d really like to do some more stuff with this. And there seems to be people wanting us to do that,”

While nothing has been confirmed, the news is more then welcome for those sitting through their thirtieth take of the Ballard of Old Greg, and with the recent talk it seems like it’s only a matter of time until something is announced.
