The much anticipated new series of Doctor Who will be fast-tracked to ABC iView once again this year, with ABC confirming the first episode of the Ninth series will premiere on Sunday, September 20 at 5.30am AEST on ABC iview.
It will continue to premiere as such each week*, ahead of its nationwide broadcast on ABC1 at 7.40pm. Here’s some more details about the season, supplied by the ABC, as well as a preview trailer for the season! Excited much? We are!
The new 12-part series explodes with episode one – The Magician’s Apprentice – one half of a two-part storyline. When the skies of Earth are frozen by a mysterious alien force, Clara (Jenna Coleman) needs her friend. But where is the Doctor (Peter Capaldi), and what is he hiding from? As past deeds come back to haunt him, old enemies will come face-to-face, and for the Doctor and Clara survival seems impossible.
The ninth series sees the Doctor and Clara reunited for time travel on a cinematic scale. The duo goes on a journey that takes them to deadly alien planets, creepy underwater bases, Viking villages, a global Zygon uprising, and hidden alien dens which leads them to the end of time itself.
The Doctor will also come face-to-face with Missy (Michelle Gomez), a city of Daleks, deadly mercenaries called the Mire, terrifying ghosts and far more.
