The second season of Stranger Things has been officially announced

Those left sour by the loose ending of Netflix’s Stranger Things will be happy to hear that Season 2 has been officially announced for 2017.

The second season will consist of 9 episodes and will be a continuation of the original story. There is not too much information surrounding the continuing narrative, or which characters will return, though the trailer seems to confirm it will be set in the Fall of 1984.

The Duffer Brothers, who wrote and directed the first season will return for the second and will executive produce with Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen.

Stranger Things is a Netflix original series that took heavy inspiration from films such as The Thing, and E.T. The series focused on the disappearance of a local child and a mystery that rocks the small town.

There has been no definitive release date for Stranger Things Season 2 beyond “2017”.
