This week’s DVD releases all feature self-made men and women, who have something to prove to the world, whether it be through through fighting, vengeance, or…stripping.
Vikings: Seasons 1-3
Vikings is a truly impressive, captivating, and entertaining drama series. Historically inspired by sagas the Nordic Vikings that spread from Scandinavia, Vikings follows the rise of Viking hero Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel), who begins as a farmer and rises to become King of Denmark. Known historically as the “Scourge of England and France”, Ragnar’s story is one full of success, but also sadness. Vikings also stars Jessalyn Gilsig and Katheryn Winnick.
Revenge: The Complete Series
This American series captivated audiences in its first season, which saw Emily Thorne (Emily Van Camp) return to the Hamptons hell-bent on getting revenge for her father’s wrongful imprisonment and subsequent death in captivity. Whilst the remaining seasons never quite lived up to season one’s high standards, Revenge was nevertheless an entertaining drama series with an impressive cast.
Magic Mike XXL
Channing Tatum’s abs are back on our screens in the follow up to hit 2012 film Magic Mike. Mike (Tatum) finds himself thrown back into the stripping game after his former stripper buddies (Kevin Nash, Matt Bomer and Joe Mangianello) rope him in to one last performance at a competition in Myrtle Beach, Florida. XXL is an entertaining follow up to the original, and also stars Donald Glover and Jada Pinkett Smith.
