This Week’s DVD Release Picks: Something for Everyone (4th December 2015)

Need to do your Christmas shopping? This week’s DVD releases feature a variety of films and television series to keep everyone happy.

ANT-MAN

One of the latest superheroes to join the Marvel ranks, Ant-Man was released earlier this year to positive reviews, mostly due to its star, Paul Rudd. Rudd plays the titular superhero, who is forced to defent the ‘Antman’ technology from a scientist (Corey Stoll), who wants to militarise it. Also starring Evangeline Lilly and Michael Douglas, Ant-Man is a great addition to the Marvel universe, and no doubt we’ll see Rudd suit up with other Marvel heroes at some point.

PAPER TOWNS

Written by The Fault in Our Stars author John Green, Paper Towns is another teen favourite. Starring Nat Wolff andCara Delevingne, Paper Towns sees Wolff’s Quentin chasing his first love Margo (Delevingne, who does well in her first major Hollywood role) across America, using clues left behind to find her. Cute and eclectic, Paper Towns retains the John Green charm and cements his position as the king of adolescent fiction.

THE FALL, SERIES 1 AND 2

Before Jamie Dornan was Christian Grey, he was Paul Spector, counsellor by day and serial killer by night. Chasing him is DCI Stella Gibson (a fantastic Gillian Anderson), who is determined to find the killer tormenting the women of Belfast. One of the most gripping crimes series to come out of Britain in the last few years, The Fall is a well-scripted and directed cat-and-mouse game, and Dornan is given far more room to demonstrate his talent. The third series is currently in production.
