John-Oliver

Between digital free-to-air and Foxtel, it’s at a point where it’s hard to choose what to watch on a given night. So we thought we’d take the task on ourselves and filter through the best TV of the week. Twice a week, we’ll deliver our picks for the days ahead. We kick things off with the first half of this week…

The Amazing Race Australia V New Zealand, 7, 8:40pm

Wednesday

The Dark Knight is worth watching (and re-watching) just for Heath Ledger’s chilling performance as The Joker. This gritty and dark film also stars Christian Bale as Batman and a cast of Hollywood heavyweights including Maggie Gyllenhaal, Michael Kane, Aaron Eckhart and the one and only Morgan Freeman.

127 Hours, One, 9:30pm

Danny Boyle’s 127 Hours is the dramatic and true story of mountain climber Aron Ralston who becomes trapped under a boulder. James Franco rises to the challenge of this role and captures the intensity of Ralston’s battle for survival, from the brutal realities to the insanity of solitude.
