In the country of England, after years of fighting in the Crusades, Robin of Loxley (Taron Egerton) returns home to Nottingham, where he discovers his estate has been destroyed and his neighbours impoverished as the ruthless Sheriff of Nottingham (Ben Mendelsohn) commands over them. Robin must now win back his lover Marian (Eve Hewson), who has since become involved with local politician Will Tillman (Jamie Dornan) after his death was falsely reported, and defeat the corrupt Sheriff to free the people of Nottingham from his merciless rule.
