It’s the final year of high school and Sutters life is falling apart. Dumped by his girlfriend, ditched by his friends and failing his way through class, he starts sliding quietly into alcoholism. When he meets the quiet, geeky Aimee she seems to offer him a path out of the murk, but Sutter may not be ready for salvation.
Based on the beloved book by Tim Tharp, The Spectacular Now is a coming-of-age tale of uncommon nuance. From director James Ponsoldt (Smashed) and writer Michael H. Weber ((500) Days of Summer) and anchored by knockout performances from Miles Teller and Shailene Woodley, who shared best acting honours at Sundance, Ponsoldt’s film is a vital, empathetic work on the turbulence and hope of adolescence.
The Spectacular Now is due to be released in selected cinemas on the 5th of December and to celebrate its release – as well as the launch of The Iris – we’ve got 20 in season double passes to give away!
